Pointe:
All pointe shoes are handcrafted and sizes may vary according to manufacturer and country of origin. Toe-dancing has an inherent risk of injury, and a reputable retailer will not sell a pointe shoe to someone without being able to correctly fit the shoe on the foot. No pointe shoe can ever make dancing easy, painless, or risk-free. Do not attempt to dance on your toes or to use pointe shoes until a qualified ballet teacher determines that you have sufficient strength and technique. NEVER use any pointe shoe that is not in good condition.

Chan Hon Goh and her husband, Chun Che, developed a successful line of pointe and slipper shoes for women and men. "Our mandate," says Goh, "was to develop a longer-lasting, affordable, hand-made shoe, without New Age material, that provides the maximum balance, support, and weight distribution for a dancer's needs in both training and performance. The Serenade pointe shoe has a narrow heel and fits snugly. The platform is wider so it is better suited to a dancer with square shaped toes. This also helps lateral balance and assists dancers who are inclined to "sickle" or fall off pointe sideways. Often a dancer with flexible feet and/or swayed back legs find that they fall forward off their pointe shoes. The Serenade compensates for this with a longer vamp and stronger shank.
